Red vs Blue

Red versus Blue wrapping paper

For this Winters Veil, 2015-6, I thought I would have a little fun and challenge readers to a contest.

Regular readers will recall the “Copper Rod Squad“, a very old gold making method where the player simply buys some of the unlimited vendor items, and puts them on the Auction House for a profit.

Examples of items are copper rods, enchantment parchment, skinning knives, dye.

These are not the limited supply items, just your average ordinary everyday vendor items.

Your Winter Veil Challenge

redblue

Choose a colour, red or blue, and buy a few of the unused wrapping paper from the vendor.

They are 10c (blue) or 50c (red) each, so you won’t be much out of pocket.

Then sell it on the Auction House.

What price can you get?

Can you manipulate your economy or change the price?

Treat this as a game, have fun with it.

Can you get 50s for a 10c item? Can you get 50g for it?

Keep track of sales, either on paper or using TSM Accounting addon (type /tsm accounting and search for the item)

Challenge yourself.

Which colour do you think will win?  I have no idea which will win, but if you tweet @thegoldqueen some of the screenshots of your sales, I’ll retweet them for fun.

Blue Ribboned Wrapping Paper

Pros:

Only sold at Christmas, so it’s rare!

Only 10c.

Easily found at the Smokeywood Pastures vendors.

Cons:

Blue is not really a christmassy colour.

Red Ribboned Wrapping Paper

Pros

Festive colour!

Mostly available in capital cities

Cons

More expensive at 50c each.

Available every day.

Warning

Can I use this opportunity to warn readers that it is against terms to

  • send wrapped gifts in the mail, cash on delivery.
  • wrap gifts, in order to hide them, then sell them to other players.  Because the buyer does not know what he is paying for, you are running a lottery.
  • tell players they have a chance of winning something, when it’s not true.

Dont be that guy!

The last player caught selling wrapped gifts on my server, probably a blacksmith’s hammer or a pickaxe or a copper rod, or some other junk, was selling the wrapped gift for 20g.  He was saying the gift had a chance of a mount or a pet, which was blatantly untrue. But the funny thing is, if he had proceeded in a legal and above board fashion, he could have sold the junk on the Auction House for more than he was selling the gifts.
